Tales of an Ancient Empire - June 19 update

Tales of an Ancient Empire – June 19 update

by albert on June 19, 2010

My apologies for not blogging the past several weeks but we’ve been working around the clock on getting Tales ready for its release. We actually created a “theatrical” version of the movie which can only really be played in a theater. It requires special optical and audio systems to playback fully. A lot of R & D went into developing this version of Tales into a unique film viewing experience.

I’ll describe the process and the effort required to play the film in the next blog. But it’ll be unlike anything viewers have experienced.

Back in 2005, I made a one shot movie that we were only able to screen 8 times because of the elaborate set up required. The movie was called “Infection” (Lions Gate released it as “Invasion” in Dec 2006). It consisted of almost entirely of just one single unedited shot. The film had the ability to cause hallucinations and create acute anxiety and paranoia in the audience. I’ll go more into those screenings in the next blog as well . It was the best reviewed movie of my career to date and it won a few fest awards. Because the effectiveness of the experience was dependent on specific screening conditions, we turned down most festival invites.

As we were finishing Tales last month, I started experimenting with image and audio technology to see if we could bring the same experience into the world of fantasy adventure. I believed we’ve accomplished this sort of 4D headtrip – albert

Will someone please tell me when the DVD will finally be shipped?! Please understand that we have been waiting for this movie since it was promised at the end credits of the Sword and the Sorcerior in 1982! The processing company has already taken my money and will only tell me that the studio is experiencing delays. What does that mean and when will they be resolved?! I AM FRUSTRATED WITH EXCITEMENT! Please calm me down.

Hi Tom – I apologize for the long delay. It’s been my fault as I keep refining the movie and also wanted to add some technology to it which took longer than expected. It’s not really an excuse but I’m hoping you’ll be pleased with the time and effort we’ve spent on improving the movie’s experience. It will begin shipping out July 12! Can’t wait to hear if it met your very excited expectations – Albert

I would very much like to see this film and have been trying my best to follow its progress since early last year when I found out about it. I heard about the DVD release and was over the moon. it has now been several months since it was promised and I have yet to see the DVD available to buy from anywhere.
I have seen no reviews on-line and have heard of no one that has seen more than a trailer for this film, so I have to ask… does it exist? is this some kind of elaborate joke? or did you get a little in over your head and do not have the ability to finish production on the film?
I have heard that you are worried about piracy of the film.. I can only say this: it will be pirated, you can not stop that, and the longer you delay a release the more chance there will be of someone leaking a work print and it being all over every torrent site on the internet.
So you really need to ask yourself this question : Do you want this film to have any success? or better yet do you want to avoid alienating fans of the original 1982 Sword and the Sorcerer?
we are all asking the same question, where is this film? please give us an answer.
